01 / THE EVERYDAY FLOW

A short trip to your browser.

Documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. One familiar flow.

Pick your file.

Choose Upload files, drop a document into the panel, or use your file manager’s Open with → omadocs action.

Give it a home.

Use your default Google account or choose one for each upload. Follow progress and see which account owns the copy.

03.

Take it from there.

omadocs opens Google’s link in your browser. Come back to Uploads to reopen that same copy whenever you need it.

A fresh copy, every time. Browser edits stay in Drive. Nothing syncs back to your local file.

02 / A DIRECT CONNECTION

Your files take the direct route.

Uploads travel from your computer to Google. Your sign-in tokens stay in your system keyring. There’s no omadocs upload server in between.

Requires Python 3.12+, requests, SecretStorage, xdg-utils, and a working login keyring. The file chooser uses zenity.

  1. Install the plugin in your terminal.
  2. Open the document icon in your bar.
  3. Connect Google in Accounts, then choose a file.

Before you open
that first file.

Does this sync my documents?

No. Every upload creates a separate Drive copy. Your local original stays unchanged, and edits made in Google do not return to it. Use Open in browser from an existing upload to avoid making another copy.

Can I use more than one Google account?

Yes. Connect personal and work accounts, set a default, or choose an account for each upload. Your browser has its own Google session, so you may need to switch to the account shown as the upload owner.

Will every file open straight into an editor?

omadocs opens the link returned by Google. Depending on the file and your browser session, Google may show a preview or ask you to choose Open with. Editing availability and formatting are handled by Google.

What can omadocs access in Google Drive?

It requests Google’s per-file drive.file permission. The plugin creates new files and accesses the files belonging to its own upload operations; it does not scan or list your Drive. Read about Google access.

How do I remove it?

First run omadocs uninstall to clear local app data and restore file handlers. Then run omarchy plugin remove io.github.pablousx.omadocs. Uploaded Drive files remain yours. See the full removal instructions.
